Tatum is a national executive services firm and we are conducting a national search on behalf of a current client for a Vice President, Finance and Accounting at a rapidly growing Wellness company in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a very exciting opportunity to join a company that is part of an exploding industry with a relaxed corporate culture and sharp Executive leadership team!

The Vice President, Finance & Accounting is a key partner to the Company's CEO-Founder and other business leaders, ensuring disciplined allocation of capital and strong, compliant growth of the enterprise. The VP is responsible for ensuring that the Company has accurate and timely accounting and financial information with which to inform management decisions and will ensure streamlined, well-documented policies and work flows to guide accounting staff.

Position Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Comply with all applicable government regulations and Company policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the CEO and other business leaders in evaluating growth opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, valuations, lease and contract negotiations.
  • Partner with the CEO and other business leaders in understanding historical performance and in forecasting future performance, including budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Develop a standardized FP&A process inclusive of an annual budgeting process, monthly forecast vs. actual review, and re-forecast financials, as necessary.
  • Contribute to product pricing decisions and product performance metrics.
  • Work with senior management to develop and support KPI's reporting.
  • Partner with the CEO in soliciting interest among prospective investors and in maintaining good relations with existing investors.
  • Ensure rigorous manufacturing cost accounting, allocating to COGS, using month-end, in-person inventory counts to distinguish among materials, WIP and finished goods, and allocating indirect production expenses to COGS for management reporting purposes.
  • Producing monthly financial statements for all affiliated entities within five business days of prior month's end.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll, collaborating with managers of hourly staff to ensure timely and accurate payments to all employees, including commissions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate Accounts Payable, including appropriate approval processes, employee expense reimbursements and credit applications for payment terms.
  • Manage banking relationships and oversee third-party accounting, audit and tax service providers.
  • Ensure efficient and auditable processes for generating Purchase Orders (POs), with appropriate permissions for certain managers to place and approve orders.
  • Oversee broker relationship(s) and maintain an appropriate portfolio on risk mitigation instruments suitable to protect the organization against material loss.
  • Identify new location opportunities with broker assistance, negotiate lease agreements, and ensure compliance with lease terms (e.g., insurance, renewals).
