Our client, a solid Fortune 500 organization headquartered in Jacksonville, FL is adding an Accountant II to their growing accounting team. This role reports directly to the Controller. As a member of their finance team you will have broad exposure to various functions. The ideal candidate is high-energy, personable and enjoys interacting and being of service to the business units. They are looking for someone with a solid understanding of GAAP, strong communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively across business functions while being a self-starter. This is the perfect role for someone to transition from public accounting, or those looking for the next step in their accounting career.

responsibilities:
  • Completes all month-end processing including updating fiscal periods, preparing month end journal entries and accruals, reconciling all balance sheet accounts and bank accounts and ensuring proper classification of income statement transactions.
  • Assist in the annual audit with the Company's external auditors, including the preparation of year-end schedules and analysis
  • Analyze and interpret financial data versus budget and prior year results
  • Assist in preparation of sales tax returns
  • Assist the Accounting manager in other duties and projects as needed
  • Suggest process improvements
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Perform ad hoc projects, analyses and data extractions as assigned.
 
qualifications:

BS in Accounting ; CPA eligibility preferred

1-2 years of experience
