job summary:

Our client in the Baltimore area is seeking an Accountant to join their growing team. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager this position is heavily involved in the monthly close process and maintaining daily, weekly and monthly analysis of various account reconciliations. This position will also support other accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing.

responsibilities:
  • Assist with the monthly close process including preparation and posting of standard journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records for fixed asset sub-ledgers.
  • Process weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Set up new customer accounts, run credit reports and obtain approvals.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly sales tax preparation.
  • Assist with data processing for A/P, A/R and Billing as needed.
 
qualifications:
  • Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • There is no clearance required for this position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2 years professional experience in Accounting.
  • 2 years Public Accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing documentation for external auditors.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of debits and credits in order to prepare accurate journal entries for amortizations, accruals, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of Accounting systems.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate, both in writing and verbally, with management, vendors and customers.
  • Must be detail orientated and demonstrate ability to strategically problem solve
  • Must demonstrate the ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Must be able to work 2 - 3 days per week in the onsite and any additional times as directed by Accounting Manager.
  • 4 years professional experience in Accounting preferred.
