Currently working with a publicly traded clinical trail biotech company that has a couple drugs in late stage FDA approval process and looking for an Accounting Manger/Senior Accounting Manager that can support the Controller around the corporate accounting processes from managing the close functions, financial statement preparation to overseeing operational accounting functions. The leadership team here have excellent experiences and ability to support biotech companies be successful and this is a great opportunity to have 2 great mentors in the Controller and CFO. Position Overview The Accounting Manager / Senior Accounting Manager will be a forward-thinking leader with proven abilities and achievements in a relevant accounting or finance role. The Accounting Manager / Senior Accounting Manager will have primary oversight responsibilities for the financial statement close process and accounts payable. The Accounting Manager / Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for clinical trial accounting. This individual will possess strong organizational, communication and management skills. The candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to provide solutions for issues identified. The successful candidate is a competent individual with integrity, accountability, strong interpersonal skills, and a team player. The position requires a "hands on" person who is flexible, hard-working and able to work well under pressure.


- Responsible for clinical trial accounting which includes:

- Oversees clinical trial specific and departmental financial operations implementation with overall financial goals and objectives

- Analyze accounting transactions and information to summarize current financial position at the unit or organization-wide level

- Oversee, reconcile, and resolve problems relative to complicated accounts

- Collect data and perform research on details of transactions

- Generate, review, analyze and communicate financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved clinical trial budgets

- Prepare and present quantitative and qualitative analyses focusing on variances from budget and prior data.

- Managing the accounting close on a monthly basis, including but not limited to, preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.

- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, managing and preparing financial information for audits; and participating in meetings with other functional groups and external auditors.

- Prepare financial reports and analyses and provide timely and insightful updates on the financial condition of the company. Monitor and analyze operating results and investigate variances.

- Manage the account reconciliation process by providing training and guidance to team members; reviewing account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, resolving issues or questions about unusual account balances; driving process improvements for the account reconciliation process; and communicating reconciliation results to the Corporate Controller and/or CFO.

- Act as a partner with company operations personnel to review and analyze financial results.

- Demonstrate an interest in and awareness of the Company's business operations.

- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans.

- Develop processes to enhance the efficiency of existing processes and ensure SOX compliance.

- Ensure timely filing of federal, state, and local returns; such as 1099's, income taxes, sales & use taxes, and property taxes. Ensure tax payments are made on a timely basis. - Policy and procedures development and documentation.

- Ad hoc projects as needed.



- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

- 6-10+ years of experience in Finance and Accounting

- Biotech industry experience preferred

- CPA is a plus

- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills

- Attention to detail is critical to this role - Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - Has the ability to interact with all levels of management

- Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills

- Excellent organizational skills

- Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements a plus
