The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing leadership to ensure the Accounting Office is successful in meeting the ongoing business needs of the Credit Union.

Will provide timely and accurate accounting and financial reporting deliverables, while seeking and achieving continuous development of staff and continuous enhancement of financial services, systems, processes and work product.

Responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting.

Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

Will supervise the accounting staff and will also manage the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Will address tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

The Accounting Manager will maintain contact with senior-level management and Executive level management which requires strong interpersonal communication skills.

Essential Functions:

-Supervise assigned financial reporting functions, including preparation of monthly financial statements for presentation to the CAO and senior management.

-Manage the accounting and journal entry processes related to the financial statements, month end close and year end close, including manual and spreadsheet entries, mass allocations, recurring journal entries, elimination entries and intercompany entries.

-Oversee the Call Report preparation and review process.

-Participate in the audit process and manage the completion of the audit work papers for the consolidated Credit Union financial statements and wholly owned CUSO.

-Share in the Regulatory Examination process.

-Manage the timely and accurate completion of financial surveys, settlements, balance sheet reconciliations

and other financial reporting and accounting duties, as assigned.

-Direct managerial responsibility for designated Accounting Office personnel, including staff selection, development of work schedules, staff training, active staff development, performance management and promotional recommendations.

-Ensure that staff are held to a high standard in performing work in an independent manner, in a changing environment, with demonstrated ownership, proficiency and innovation, and in compliance with departmental standards for quality, accuracy and timeliness.

-Be knowledgeable and proficient with financial accounting systems that support the financial reporting and accounting functions and related financial operations.

-Function as liaison for Accounting area and BI areas.

-Ensure system functionality is fully and efficiently utilized on a daily basis to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and service.

-Actively participate in identifying and implementing process enhancements to ensure that the financial reporting services are continually enhanced to achieve efficiencies while maintaining high quality deliverables and appropriate level of internal control.

-Recommend & implement strategic adjustments to support Delta Community CU corporate objectives.

Position may offer work from home opportunities after an initial 6 month period, pending specific performance and departmental needs.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

- 5+ years' experience in leadership/management, financial reporting and process improvement roles.

- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.

- Skills to guide and supervise the efforts of a team of professionals in a self-managed environment.

- Should possess strong organizational, technical, analytical, decision-making and administrative skills.

- Must be excellent in use of business software applications (e.g. MS Office).

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

- Successful candidate should possess the following competencies: Creativity and Innovation, Decision Making, Interactive Communications, Relationship Building, Results Management.

- Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Masters in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.

- Experience in credit union or financial services industry.

- Strong leadership and team-building skills.

- Knowledge of Symitar software.

- Knowledge of Credit Union products and policies
