Currently working with a mid-size growing high tech manufacturing company that works in the medtech space that is currently looking to grow out the team and hire an Accounting Manager to be the right hand to the Head of Finance. This person will support and lead a team of 4 people across a variety of accounting functions including the accounts payable function, AR/Revenue, general ledger, financial statement reporting and analytics, as well as audit management. Head of Finance is a mentoring person and ideally looking for someone with project management skills that can grow and lead themselves into a Controller position in the mid-term. Position summary:
The Accounting Manager has the leadership function in the Accounting team, leading the monthly accounting close; managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes, supporting the FP&A department with internal reports and analysis; supporting the SEC Reporting consultant; ensuring all SOX controls are met within his/her scope; and other ad hoc projects. This position will report to the CFO and will work cross-functionally with various departments. The Accounting manager will have at least 3 employees/consultants directly reporting him/her. There is the opportunity to be promoted to Assistant Controller / Controller but this opportunity will be merit based.
- Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Accounting
- Manage the month-end accounting close process
- Review recurring and non-recurring general journal entries
- Prepare complex journal entries
- Review account reconciliations
- Prepare / review financial statement variance analysis
- Review revenue recognition analysis on complex deal transactions
- Manage the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes
- Manage preparation of quarter-end financial statements
- Manage equity award accounting process
- Head liaison for external and internal audit teams
- Lead the preparation of external audit requests
- Ensure SOX narratives and accounting policies are updated.
- Support or lead ad hoc projects
- Drive process improvements within area of responsibility
- Research low-risk technical accounting issues and draft memos
SEC Reporting
- Support the Form 10-Q and 10-K process by updating / reviewing select financial statement notes and management discussion and analysis
FP&A
- Support the FP&A department's quarterly internal reviews with executive team
- Review / update financial schedules and support budget vs. actual analysis
qualifications:
- Position Skills/Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of relevant corporate accounting experience with some exposure to SEC and financial reporting.
- Public company, combination of large and mid-size company experience preferred.
- Public accounting audit experience preferred
- Accounting in manufacturing environment experience preferred
- Experience implementing accounting structures, process integration, automation, and system implementation.
- Proficient using Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and other standard MS office software packages
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent program; CPA preferred
- Ability to demonstrate strong aptitude with cost accounting
- Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements
