job summary:

Growing northwest manufacturer is seeking an Accounting Manager to assist the Controller in directing the accounting functions including billing, payables and reporting. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning and budgeting systems as well as oversee the preparation of periodic reporting and legal filings. Our successful Accounting Manager will ensure that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedure are documented and followed by the organization.

    responsibilities:

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Establishes and maintains financial records systems in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles.
    • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues. This includes the management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds
    • Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management
    • Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with calculation of return on capital improvements
    • Ensure all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations are reconciled on a timely basis
    • Prepare daily revenue flash report
    • Responsible for month-end close process; setting and communicating deadlines, maintaining schedules and validation of the monthly financial reports
    • Manages the journal entry, inter-company transfer, commitment control and other accounting functions to maintain the integrity of the General Ledger
    • Ensures the timely completion of important asset and liability account reconciliation.
    • Analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections.
    • Supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
    • Participates in meetings with various levels of management to further the understanding of financial performance or communicate department needs.
     
    qualifications:

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in accounting or other business-related field; CPA license a plus
    • Five to seven years of progressive accounting/financial experience
    • Diverse knowledge of GAAP, accrual base accounting and a strong understanding of cost accounting concepts such as standard and job costing, absorption and variances
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and related accounting business systems
    • Strong technical, analytical and communication skills
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple priorities
