job summary:

My client, a well established law firm local to Ft. Lauderdale is seeking to hire an Accounting Manager that will report directly into the Director of Financial Analysis.

This is a newly created role due to tremendous growth and new office locations opening throughout the US. The Accounting Manager will be expected to work in office Monday-Friday and have current/previous law firm accounting experience.

responsibilities:

Accounting Manager will oversee and directly manage 6 employees (AR/Cash/Collection while working in conjunction with Accounts Payable and Billing department)

  • Maintain working trial balances, provide month-end adjusting entries; perform monthly accounts reconciliation & month end closing
  • Ensure bank statements are reconciled and adequately supported
  • Participate in process improvements initiatives to attain best practices and efficiencies through the use of technology and automation
  • Prepare fixed asset, depreciation, lease accounting, and accrual schedules
  • Confirm wire transfer instructions, and process wire payments
  • Perform month-end closing activities including review of journal entries
  • Manage, mentor and lead team of 6 employees
  • Perform daily accounting review, including assisting with banking transactions, GL coding and expense reports
  • Assist with external audit requests & tax requests, including review of schedules as assigned
  • Efficiently coordinate the work of your team to achieve reporting deadlines and data accuracy
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting, required
  • Master's Degree and/or CPA license, highly preferred 3Minimum of 5 years' experience in a law firm setting or professional services firm, highly preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, conventions, and standards
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads
  • Ability to manage and develop others
  • Ability to identify issues and resolve problems
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Takes Initiative
