About the job

The Accounting Services Manager supervises the organization's accounts payable, payroll, and expense reporting activities and staff, and develops and implements reporting procedures and internal controls, ensures data integrity, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory agency requirements and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily activities of the Accounting Services team. Monitor performance to ensure standards are achieved, performance is maximized, and the department's overall objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain accounting procedures and ensure they are followed. Develop policies and internal controls to ensure accuracy of data and compliance with standards, specifications, and requirements. Recommend policies, procedures, and actions to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of expenses for employees, volunteers, and vendors, and in accordance with the organization's cash management procedures.
  • Work with teammates on vendor-related matters. Foster a culture of service while working closely with the accounting team and other business partners.
  • Manage 1099 preparation through the organization's financial system.
  • Implement programs and projects to comply with administrative, state, and federal requirements.
  • Review the preparation of local, state, and federal required reports, e.g., W-2, 941, to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the administration of the organizations Procurement card (P-card) program.
  • Examine payroll and employee expense activity to ensure payroll and expense journal entries are accurate.
  • Research and review discrepancies in payroll and expense information and documentation to ensure accuracy, and implement corrective measures.
  • Prepare written reports, memos, correspondence, procedures to document activities, provide written reference, and convey information.
  • Maintain routine metrics to measure team performance
  • Lead the implementation of projects and time saving initiatives across cross-functional teams.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Five years of experience processing payroll in multi-state operations.
  • Three years of staff management experience.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
