Accounting Manager

Currently working with a successful real estate investment company that is looking for an Accounting Manager to support the team with handling the accounting for a new private equity real estate fund. Position will handle accounting, consolidation for the fund and partner with the property accountants to make sure all their information looks correct. Will work with auditors on audits and valuations and manage any special reporting requirements. responsibilities:

Accounting Manager

Due to growth our client is seeking an Accounting Manager primarily focused on managing our new funds and our corporate/management entity investments in our portfolio of multifamily residential and commercial real estate assets.

Scope of Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review month end/quarterly close, journal entries, bank and general ledger reconciliations for fund and corporate investment or management entities.
  • Coordinate and prepare investor capital calls, distributions, and quarterly reporting.
  • Ensure records are kept in compliance with GAAP, including reviewing property level financials and consolidation considerations.
  • Train accountants on month end or quarterly reporting.
  • Process investment funding requests, wires and internal transfers, in a timely manner.
  • Work with property management company for financial reporting needs.
  • Coordinate external audits and prepare information as needed.
  • Work with investor relations team to address investor inquiries or requests and ensure investor portal is up to date regarding capital contributions and distributions.
  • Assist team in developing and implementing financial reporting process in Yardi.
  • Work with Controller to analyze, enhance, and document internal controls/processes.
  • Assist team with periodic financial reports and annual tax filings.
  • Respond to internal inquiries in a timely fashion and prepare ad-hoc reports requested by management/other departments.
  • Research and identify exceptions and problems affecting accounting records, communicating to management, and assisting in their resolution.
  • Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
 
qualifications:

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Real estate accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience working with consolidation reporting preferred.
  • Experience with Yardi preferred.
  • Fund experience preferred.
  • Experience with transition of general ledger systems preferred.
  • Experience with establishing, implementing, and documenting internal controls, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience working with auditors and/or public accounting experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working with teams outside of the accounting and finance department (investor relations/asset management/transaction teams)
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Ability to set goals.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks accurately, timely and consistently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines timely, accurately, and consistently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required from an accredited four-year college or university
