Accounting Manager
We are the voice of the companies turning America's enormous clean power potential into reality. We are seeking a Manager, Accounting to be responsible for maintaining accounting records accurately, timely and in accordance with US GAAP and US Federal, State, and local tax regulations. This position plays a key role supporting the Director, Finance during monthly and quarterly closes, financial audit, cashflow and investment activities and tax and other regulatory filings. The incumbent will also play an important role in moving the finance department forward overall, but specifically, in the close process, audit preparation and supporting records in particular.

responsibilities:
- Integral to the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, including the preparation of the association's financial statements, in compliance with US GAAP, official guidelines and other applicable requirements.
- Role includes performing account recs, journal entries and oversight ensure account "true-ups"
- Integral to the pre-audit and audit.
- Ensures proper internal controls are followed and recommends process changes to improve efficiency.
- Assists with analytics, running financial statements and performing analysis of variances to prior periods and to budget.
- Reconciles all Revenue Accounts and resolves any discrepancies in a timely manner in all corresponding systems.
- Oversights the overall American Express account process. Ensures the Accounts Payable specialist timely processes the bills and the Payroll manager works with ACP's staff to timely receive the submission of reimbursements and credit card expenses and approve them.
- Manages all aspects of Fixed Assets (record, depreciate, reconcile, gains/losses upon retirement). Works with IT and the Operations team to keep track of all purchases.
- Completes all bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile asset accounts on a monthly basis.
- Tracks and accounts for all investments and updates monthly valuations.
- Tracks directed funds revenue providing timely monthly updates to program leads.
- Maintains all accounting related to the PAC. Coordinates quarterly and yearly filings for the FEC.
- Oversees the processing of 1099 forms and other miscellaneous year end activities.
- Work with audit firm on completing DC Personal Property tax and franchise tax returns and other tax filings and notices as required.
- Work with audit firm to prepare 990 filing to the IRS.
- Provide strong customer service by adequately addressing internal and external customer inquiries in a timely, professional, and knowledgeable manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting is required. Audit or relevant accounting experience is required; CPA certification or post-graduate education a plus.
- Must demonstrate strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience with transaction accounting.
- Must be proficient in using Excel and other Microsoft Office Software.
The position is based in downtown Wash DC. Work schedule allows for remote work 3 days per week. Salary range is $80,000 - 100,0000 + bonus + benefits.
