Accounting & Reporting Manager

Currently working with a mid-size publicly traded financial services company that is looking for someone that can support the Director of Reporting & Accounting with a variety of financial reporting areas that are specific to their industry and work with various regulatory boards on those reports. They would also help oversee various corporate accounting areas including debt, goodwill, and other accounts. Position will help supervise 1 staff and work with various internal and external stakeholders. Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of experience within a financial reporting role or audit and have financial services or insurance type clients or experience. JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting and Reporting Manager position will participate in the monthly close, establishing accounting policies, support best practices and is responsible for producing and filing quarterly and annual reports filed with applicable regulators and overseeing all state required filings and payments.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage statutory filing and reporting requirements ensuring timely and accurate filing.

- Prepare key components of audited statements, GAAP statements, and various state

filings.

- Participate in the monthly financial close process with responsibility for all statutory accounting entries and other applicable accounting areas.

- Manage various functional or operational areas within accounting, which could include debt, goodwill, and financial reporting.

- Support maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers.

- Assist in development and implementation of policies, priorities, and procedures.

- Ensure design and operating effectiveness of key financial reporting controls.

- Provide oversight and support for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Model Audit Rule 205 (MAR 205) documentation.

- Remain abreast of changes through publications, pronouncements and rules; present findings and analysis to management.

- Provide support, guidance and leadership to members of the Corporate Accounting Team.

- Coordinate with other reporting groups to ensure consistent reporting.

- Perform ad hoc responsibilities, as needed.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, related field, or equivalent work experience.

- Five or more years of industry or public accounting experience. CPA certification or MBA preferred.

- Understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting.

- Ability to manage financial processes and the capacity to implement control procedures while driving continuous improvement.

- Skilled in written and verbal communication.

- Ability to work independently under general direction with latitude for initiative and

independent judgment and to work effectively at all levels within the organization.

- Ability to identify and prioritize problems and recommend solutions.

- Completes work in a timely manner and meets deadlines.

- Must possess attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

- Works ethically and with integrity supporting organizational goals and values.

- Contributes to building a positive team spirit and treats others with respect.

- Maintains confidentiality of information and uses information appropriately.

- Analyzes and interprets information accurately.
