Our Client is a boutique Real Estate investment and Property Management company located in South Philadelphia is looking for a dynamic and detailed individual to grow within our team as an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for administering and performing the day-to- day responsibilities for the Company's overall general accounting function.

responsibilities:
  • Month-end: Review, analyze and approve journal entries and data uploads for accuracy and completeness, review monthly account analysis that are prepared by staff accountants, and review financial and operational reports to identify and explain fluctuations in performance.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Post all journal entries, reconcile general ledger, and review income/expense accounts to ensure revenue/expenses are recognized in the correct period and performing GL account reconciliations.
  • Prevent inaccuracies in financial statements by setting up and/or maintaining internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting.
  • Developing innovative and effective solutions to problems in financial analysis, reporting and forecasting through individual effort or as part of a team.
  • Assist with annual budgeting process and reforecast through the year
  • Assist in managing the accounts payable process to ensure proper invoice coding, proper expense approval, and timely vendor payment.
  • Ensure the accounting department is in compliance with company policies and ensure controls are in place to protect company assets from loss and to protect confidential information from disclosure.
  • Maintain the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and monthly account analysis
  • Creating and maintaining long-term and short-term amortization schedules for loans in accordance with CPA firm guidance
  • Develop and monitor daily and weekly reports of operations activities and key performance measures including cash-flow analysis.
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses at the direction of the Controller
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 4+ years of accounting and residential property (multi-family housing) experience preferred but not required. We are also open for a strong Sr Accountant ready for the next step.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Must be a team-player having the ability to multi-task and is self-directed
