Tatum by Randstad s working with one of our Hospitality clients who is a long-time LA staple eatery that values the importance of healthy food, beverages, and freshly baked goods. They are looking to hire a dynamic Assistant Controller to join their team. The founders of the company play an active role here. The successfully hired person must be able to communicate with the founders as well as the rest of the accounting department on financial and accounting matters. . This is a fast paced, fun, family oriented team environmentally friendly and reports to the Controller. Some benefits include free breakfast and lunch everyday.

responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Accounting Team
  • Prepare and enter period-end journal entries for intercompany payables and receivables.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily, weekly, and quarterly cash projections/forecasts. Make cash management recommendations and execute cash transactions.
  • Maintain fixed assets subledger and supporting documentation; record additions and disposals; process monthly depreciation expense; prepare monthly reconciliation; prepare rollforward schedule for external tax accountants.
  • Perform a monthly analysis of construction in progress account; record the necessary entries to capitalize project costs.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations; research and resolve account reconciling items.
  • Provide requested financial information and assistance to employees and management.
  • Prepare month-end accruals as needed.
  • Allocate costs to multiple departments and multiple café locations.
  • Perform periodic variance analysis of revenue and expenses.
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end closing, financial statements, adjusting journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Maximize efficiencies, organize work processes and procedures, and automate procedures through system improvements.
 
qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business or accounting
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and variance analysis
  • Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience (at least 2 years of public accounting experience preferred)
  • Significant progressive experience in general ledgers, preferably in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in financial statement preparation a plus
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Outlook
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, up to and including Subtotals, Filters, VLOOKUPs, IF Formulas, Conditional Formatting, and PivotTables

This position will be in the office Monday - Friday 8-5
