job summary:

Tatum by Randstad is working with a manufacturing company located north of Kansas City in their search for a new Assistant Controller. The company is well established and has continued to grow throughout the pandemic. The ideal person would have a strong SAP software experience and be a guru with general ledger, month end closings, and audit schedules. Manufacturing experience is required as this position is an "in office" position at the plant.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • CPA would be highly desired
  • Must be experienced with computerized accounting systems as well as MS Office and Excel.
  • Must be able to use a ten-key calculator by touch.

This is an in office position and located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Kansas City

The company offers excellent benefits including very strong the medical as well as 401(k)

Base salary will be in the $90-$100K range depending upon experience.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plant accounting functions relating to month end and year end functions.
  • Performs month end and year end accounting functions including journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for assuring all accounting transactions are in compliance with GAAP
  • Responsible for the Divisions General Ledger and yearly close and setup for the new year
  • Perform Cash management including, daily deposits (cash application), collections and all other cash management
  • Coordinate and verify Fixed Asset purchases including management of the Capital Budget (1-C)
  • Maintain Fixed Asset physical records and system process in SAP
  • Preparation and submittal of monthly, quarterly, & annual reports to corporate office regarding specific GL account reconciliations and supplemental information used in consolidated corporate disclosures.
  • Responsible for Sales & Use Tax filings.
  • Assure compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley 404 legislation.
  • Compile documentation for financial audits
  • Process the Management and Salary Payroll.
  • Prepare Risk Management Schedules for Corporate Insurance department.
  • Prepare various US Tax Schedules for Corporate Tax department.
  • Responsible for Sales & Use Tax filings.
  • Participate in weekly Commercial Issues conference
  • Display a positive attitude towards safety and lead by example that will result in a safe and healthful workplace for all who work at the plant.
  • Thoroughly train new associates, correct or commend associate's health and safety performance, and conduct adequate performance appraisals by evaluating an associate's safety performance.
  • Ensures that the principles of the employee charter and the Corporate Constitution are practiced, supported, and reinforced.
  • Administers and ensures compliance with the Quality and Material Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals.
