job summary:

We are seeking an "on-site" Assistant Controller to take a leadership role within a growing accounting department. This person must be a driven, self-starter, with the ability to collaborate and develop the existing accounting department. The Assistant Controller will work with the Vice President, Accounting and Controller while directly managing and overseeing Staff/Senior Accountants in addition to transactional accounting staff support.

  • Ensures multi-entity financial statements are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Assists departments and subsidiaries with account analysis and research
  • Analyzes basic financial reports and key performance indicators and makes recommendations relative to balance sheet and P&L statements implications
  • Evaluates trends, identifies and investigates unusual or unexpected account variances
  • Generates daily and monthly reports to assist in above duties and prepare other management and statutory reports, as required
  • Makes recommendations to resolve issues and makes corrections, as necessary
  • Performs other accounting research as needed
  • Interface with external/internal auditors in managing requests concerning processes and deliverables
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required
    • Active CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to manage daily departmental operations in a multi-entity company
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage staff to meet departmental deadlines and attain goals, while supporting a positive work environment
  • Large company ERP accounting experience and advanced excel skills required
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate
