responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director Group Controller, the Assistant Group Controller oversees consolidation, internal management reporting, and ensures accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. This position involves significant interaction with external auditors, finance staff, and process owners in other functions. Hires, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Preparation of opening balance sheets of recent acquisitions as well as subsequent integration activities.
  • Manage the monthly preparation of financials, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial audits by analyzing financial data of multi-location and multi-currency group of companies; comparing data to third-party information, budgets, or actual results; researching balance sheet account variances; managing and preparing financial information for audits; and participating in meetings with other functional groups and external auditors
  • Perform technical accounting research as necessary to provide accounting guidance to our subsidiaries or assist in the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare supporting schedules for internal and external (SEC) reporting.
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and practices worldwide
  • Review of monthly consolidated financial statements including sub-consolidation of multi-location and multi-currency group of companies, perform variance analysis and investigate differences
  • Communicate accounting results by explaining variances and anomalies in account balances; determining accounting influence on future proposals, and discussing the effects with management and the Finance Team;
  • Manage the account reconciliation process by providing training and guidance to team members; reviewing account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, resolving issues or questions about unusual account balances; driving process improvements for the account reconciliation process; and communicating reconciliation results to Senior leadership including Global Corporate Controller.
  • Manage the preparation of audit schedules
  • Prepare financial information in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements by assisting in the research of regulatory changes; and ensuring the company financial statements are compliant with GAAP.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans;
  • Various other projects geared toward supporting Group Finance Teams including the testing or adherence to certain corporate level Sox Controls such as compliance with our A/R reserve policy, credit & collections, inventory valuation and reserve policies, revenue recognition, and various other policies or procedures.
  • Perform/assist with other duties and special projects including other Corporate Finance initiatives.
 
qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience of progressive public accounting experience with significant financial reporting and technical accounting responsibilities required.
  • Big 4/2nd tier experience and CPA is required
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail is critical to this role
  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience analyzing large amounts of financial data
  • Must have demonstrated presentation skills and able to easily present financial data in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements a plus
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Must effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization as well as external auditors.
