job summary:

Tatum Professional Search is assisting our client, a CPA firm, with their need for an Audit Manager to be a key part of their organization! This position is located in Annapolis, MD, and requires the candidate to be in office 2-3 days per week.

responsibilities:
  • Be a trusted member of the engagement team providing various assurance and consulting services to industry specific clients, positively impacting their financial statements, profitability, and business operations through:
    • Proactively engaging with your clients throughout the year to understand business goals and challenges
    • Implementing appropriate testing to assess deficiencies of internal controls and make recommendations for improvement
    • Managing all fieldwork to ensure quality service and timely delivery of results
    • Playing an active role in providing valuable financial statement guidance and business recommendations based upon various testing performed and information gathered
    • Delivering business insight through thoughtful review, analysis, and discussion
  • Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met
  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients and the community
  • Invest in your professional development individually and through participation in firm wide learning and development programs
  • Support the growth and development of team helping associates meet their professional goals
  • Schedule and plan operational and financial audits; initiate project planning, develop audit direction.
  • Manage performance of audit assignments; review financial statements, workpapers and audit reports.
  • Develop testing methodologies to evaluate the adequacy of controls and document the results.
  • Develop recommendations and reports based on audits and present these ideas to senior management.
  • Oversee project management, which includes meeting budgets and tracking progress against the audit plan and timeline.
  • Plan and allocate resources and individuals in accordance with skills and schedules.
  • Maintain a strong client focus by effectively serving client needs and developing productive working relationships with client personnel.
  • Display teamwork, integrity, leadership, initiative, and work with team members to set goals and responsibilities for specific engagements.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 6-10 years' experience
  • Ability to work closely with other professionals, and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Normal work hours -- 40 hrs. a week
  • Tax season (February 1 st to April 15 th ) hours -- 53 hrs. per week
