job summary:

Tatum by Randstad is working with a private growth/expansion stage tech company ($400+ million valuation) currently looking for a Chief Accounting Officer for Austin, Texas.

Our client is looking for a Chief Accounting Officer in the Software/Technology space capable of preparing the company for the public markets, and rapid growth and expansion across the globe.

The Role

- Lead all accounting, reporting and tax functions of the business including oversight of all related processes, employees, contractors, vendors and systems.

- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and IT systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and statutory standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Manage and coordinate preparation of financial statements per PCAOB standards and SEC compliance requirements - experience in transition from private company to public company will be a plus.

- Lead the timely, complete, and accurate compilation, review and publication/filing of SEC, management, Board, regulatory, and tax reporting for the company (including 10K, 10Q, annual reports, board financial reporting, required regulatory reporting, and earnings-related information).

- Implement and maintain a robust Internal Control over Financial Reporting ("ICFR") environment modeled in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.

- Lead audit committee communications related to accounting, SEC, SOX, and other regulatory matters.

- Serve as the primary contact for communication and coordination with internal and external auditors, as well as relevant external regulators. Establish and maintain strong relationships with other key external stakeholders including tax, valuation and other consultants; external legal counsel; and SEC and IRS staff.

- Remain current on all relevant accounting topics, reporting and regulatory matters. Establish and maintain accounting and disclosure policies and procedures for the company including those related to fixed assets, impairment, revenue recognition, software accounting and other complex accounting matters.

- Responsible for US and International tax accounting, compliance, planning and special tax projects, which includes the coordination of tax return preparation along with any related tax audits. Coordinate with outside tax advisors.

- Coordinate with IT team to create and maintain efficient, reliable and effective IT Systems related to accounting and tax matters and integration with operational and transactional IT Systems.

- Build and maintain high performing teams by recruiting, selecting, coaching, and training employees.

- Develop a close working relationship and foster team relationships with Finance, Operations, IT and Technology groups. Work with these teams in developing and maintaining shared systems such as treasury, capital expenditure tracking, purchasing and collections.

- Assist in preparation of presentations on financial matters to senior management, the Board of Directors, investors, creditors, and other stakeholders.

- Assist with corporate budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and expense management efforts.

- Work closely with the CFO and COO to build the financial and transaction processing infrastructure to support the company's current and future business requirements. Help ensure a successful collections process through active integration with accounts payable team.

- Role based in Austin, TX and reporting to CFO.

What you bring:

- Minimum 15 years' experience in financial accounting, including an active CPA license, and a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience at a Big 4 firm.

- Accounting experience with publicly-traded, SaaS model, transaction-oriented service business is highly preferred. Experience in financial services transaction processing is a plus.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a top University with a solid GPA. Master's degree in Accounting or Tax preferred.

- You have impressive analytical, quantitative, and communication skills. You have a strong executive presence and are comfortable presenting data and concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand.

- You are knowledgeable in accounting software and IT systems. Experience with Salesforce and Sage Intacct is a plus.

- You have great intuition and can figure things out without a detailed road map.

- You thrive in a high-growth and fast-paced environment.
