job summary:

South Texas bank that is approximately $2 billion in size has a Controller opportunity to support the CFO and help support the transition of the bank to S-Corp. This position oversees the Accountants, Accounting Specialists, Accountant / ATM Debit Card Support, Purchasing Manager and Inventory Control Specialist. This position will report to the CFO..

responsibilities:
  • Reviews for accuracy management reporting
  • Works on budgeting
  • Prepares financial statements and reports to the ALCO committee
  • Interfaces with internal and external auditors
  • Works with CFO on tax calculations and other financial analysis
  • Knowledgeable of internal risk controls and loss prevention
  • Maintains current knowledge and complies with all federal and state laws and regulations and all established Bank policies and procedures, including internal audit controls related to department operations.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a CPA certification
  • 10 plus years of work experience in accounting, five of which need to be with a Bank or Thrift
  • Must have at least three years of management experience
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of GAAP as they apply to Banks/Thrifts
  • Must be fully knowledgeable of federal bank regulations
  • Must have strong background in budgeting, planning, and financial reporting and analysis
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired
