Tatum by Randstad Professional Search has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Cost Accountant. Our client is a cutting edge Biotech company located in Lawrenceville, GA. in The Cost Accountant participates in the the day-to-day operation of the Finance Department and liaises with departmental managers in planning and analysis of costs related to manufacturing business activities.

    responsibilities:

    Lead the Bill of Material (BOM) maintenance and review for manufactured products and prepare cost estimates when required. Perform monthly cost reviews for products manufactured and purchased along with cost change analysis.

    Perform in depth analysis of manufacturing and overhead cost in collaboration with fermentation and production department managers to understand/maintain cost and metrics and determine strategic ways to reduce cost.

    Analyze changes and modifications in raw material, packaging, and production processes to determine cost effects, and analyze actual production costs compared to standard costs and report accordingly. Provide reports, data and coaching to manufacturing department managers to assist them in managing their department expenses.

    Track monthly actual to standard usage and loss variances and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

    Implement, monitor, and report continuous improvement in work procedures to establish strong cost accounting procedures and methods. Conduct and analyze audits of cost and prepare reports.

    Develop tools, reports, and communications to highlight price, cost and margin differentials between production runs, products, and customers. Conduct reviews with management to correct sub-standard margins.

    Provide inventory accountability, verification of actual costs, month-end inventory valuation, account reconciliations and performance reporting. Conduct physical inventory and monitor all cycle counts ensure proper product/plant cost and manage all inventory transfers and adjustments.

    Lead year-end physical inventory activities in tandem with the Purchasing/Inventory Manager and work directly with 3 rd party auditors to verify and validate counts and provide traceable supporting documentation when required.

    Develop, calculate and manage changes in labor and overhead rates, budgets and forecasts. Analyze COGS variances to budget and assist in setting up annual COGS budget.

     
    qualifications:
    • 3+ years manufacturing based experience required.
    • BS/BA, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
    • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • QuickBooks experience preferred.
    • Strong computer skills required (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Must naturally take initiative, exhibit leadership and be highly detail oriented.
    • Must be able to pass background check/drug screening.
