Our client, a well-known manufacturing company in the Elk Grove, Illinois area, is seeking a Temp-Hire Cost Accounting Analyst to sit onsite. The Cost Accounting Analyst will be accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. Manufacturing experience is a must have to be successful in this role

responsibilities:
- Coordinate physical inventory counts.
- Coordinate cycle count activities/program. Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues.
- Establish and update (as needed) standard costs for both manufactured and purchased inventory. Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
- Close "completed" jobs after analysis of variances. Identify systemic issues for consideration of standards changes.
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
- Revise the reserve for excess and/or obsolete inventory as needed.
- Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing on both spending and efficiency variances.
- Collecting and analyzing data about a company's operational costs.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
- Develop standard costs, including labor and overhead rates each new year, based on budget
- Performing month-end cost accounting close
qualifications:
- BA/BS degree, as well as excellent analysis skills, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team. Associate degree with relevant experience would also be considered.
- 5+ years of accounting/finance within a manufacturing setting
- Experience in the aerospace industry is desirable but not essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and a large ERP system
- Strong writing and communication skills, solid accounting foundation, interpersonal relations, analytical skills, and technical skills
- CMA or CGMA preferred but not essential
