job summary:

The Credit Manager position is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the credit worthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses standpoint. Develop strong working relationships with sales management, customer service and other departments to resolve customer issues. This includes the maintenance of the accounts receivable sub-ledger in an accurate and timely manner. Work closely with accounting to ensure AR aging balance matches AR sub-ledger accounting books. Also, work with accounting to update bad debt reserves.

responsibilities:
  • Establishes and maintains the company's credit policy. Monitors credit limits and releases customer orders.
  • Develop relationships with sales and executive management to provide aging reports as well as detailed list of invoices with status of issues or collection plans.
  • Involved sales management in chasing the customers; clearly defines responsibilities for sales management and required actions by sales management.
  • Manages accounts receivable aging with focus on all customer relationships. Maintains DSO levels with a target of under 15 days overdue.
  • Manages customer prepayments.
  • Balances AR on a daily basis.
  • Submits customer short pays to accounting assistant for review & approval.
  • Establish credit limits on customer accounts.
  • Review and approve adjustments to accounts.
  • Run aging at end of each period and work with accounting to ensure sub-ledger ties to general ledger.
  • Keeps management informed of troubled accounts and recommends adequacy of accounts receivable reserves. Work with accounting on a regular bases to understand risk and exposure to uncollectible balances by customer to ensure adequate reserves as on the accounting books.
  • Audit delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectable; ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit status to account.
  • Responsible for monitoring, and auditing invoicing to customers, ensuring timely issuance of invoices, including EDI processing.
 
qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting plus 5 years of related experience.
