job summary:

The Director of Finance and Accounting is a high level, high exposure position developing and directing a large team ensuring timely and accurate accounting and financial reporting for a well established midsize company north of Boston. Excellent opportunity for a finance leader to shape and direct a large staff to achieve the company's financial goals.

This high profile role will partner with executives supporting and guiding decision making and strategies to set and achieve corporate financial goals.

responsibilities:
The Director, Finance and Accounting will be responsible for:
  • Hiring, training and developing staff (12-15) performing all functions related to finance and accounting
  • Manage staff performance and resource allocation
  • Oversee financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Ensure US GAAP compliance
  • Create and maintain cash flow forecasts
  • Review and implement best practices, strengthen policies and procedures
  • Streamline processes to maximize efficiencies
  • Direct efforts related to cash management
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Partner with department leaders and develop management reporting packages
  • Manage budget process and variance analysis; research and report on budget to actual financial performance
  • Oversee development and maintenance of financial models for business support
  • Utilize financial expertise and work with company executives to drive financial strategies to achieve corporate goals
  • Develop KPIs to measure company performance and identify areas of improvement
 
qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • BS in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of relevant finance experience with a foundation in accounting
  • Strong management experience with direct & indirect reports
  • Self motivated team player
  • Excellent communication skills, able to effectively interact with employees at all levels
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead by example; need someone who is willing and able to set the tone for the finance organization
  • Enjoys coaching and developing staff; takes pride in staff succeeding and growing
