job summary:

Director of Finance

A premier DC think tank seeks a new Director of Finance. This person will report directly to the CFO and have supervisory responsibilities over certain areas of the 4 person Finance Department as needed. The Director of Finance will assist the CFO in

overseeing all aspects of the Finance Department and provide support for the CFO's supervision of the HR Department.

responsibilities:

- Monthly Investment Reports and organization of investment documents

- Work with Controller to supervise monthly close deadlines

- Reconciliation of select balance sheet accounts

- Supervise completion of annual audit schedules with responsibility for completing select schedules

- Supervise the completion of the annual 990 return schedules with responsibility for completing select schedules

- Work with the Controller and CFO to prepare the annual budget and quarterly financial reports

- Prepare miscellaneous tax filings

- Oversee the review of State Charity and Business Registration Renewals

- Supervise the annual update of the Accounting Manual

- Administer the retirement plans with involvement from the pension committee

- Work with CFO to review internal controls and procedure efficiencies

- Assist CFO with the review of the payroll function and some of the HR functions that fall under the Finance Department

- Assist CFO with vendor contracts and negotiations

- Manage new projects in the Finance Department

 
qualifications:

- BS in Accounting or Finance or related area

- CPA and or Master Degree preferred

- 6+ years of financial accounting experience including substantial time in the nonprofit

sector.

- Experience with investment accounting and reporting

- Strong excel skills

This organization is based in Wash DC and operates on a hybrid work schedule. Annual salary for this position is $130,000 - 150,000 + a generous retirement contribution.
