job summary:

The Head of Branch Operations is responsible for the overall management of the daily operations of the branch. This role will be responsible for managing Air, Ocean, Custom House Brokerage, Domestic Transportation, Warehousing, Distribution, and Direct-to-Hospital Services. Responsibilities will also include ensuring all quality, service levels, and performance goals are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall responsibility for all the day-to-day operations functions, including import, exports, warehouse, dispatch, transportation (internal and domestic) and drivers to ensure all shipments are efficiently processed, recovered and dispatched to meet time-critical schedules required by clients
  • Focus on operational excellence and controlling QA matters
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of KPIs, analysis of repetitive operational problems and development of
  • Defining and writing operational procedures for all aspects of freight forwarding
  • Ensure adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements including TSA, Homeland Security, FDA, etc.
  • Drive high standards of health, safety, hygiene and security in accordance to company policy and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that communication within the team and with the branch and network is done in a proper and timely manner to enable other job functions to perfor
  • Coaching, training and leading staff and drive a culture of cross-functional collaboration
  • Liaise with customers on daily basis with the aim of developing the relationship, performance and customer satisfaction

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years in the transportation/logistics industry
  • Experience oversee all functions of logistics operations operations
  • Experience driving daily workloads and performance metrics
  • Experience with airfreight operations, import/export operations and related regulatory requirements (TSA, FDA etc)
  • The ideal candidate has experience from working in a GDP environment
  • Experience in driving a large operation
  • Experience in driving the daily workload and performance based on data and performance KPIs (shipment/milestone reports, KPI matrix etc)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Structured and solution driven thinking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to drive successful outcomes when working in a cross-functional environment
  • Expertise skills in defining and writing procedures and work instructions
  • Solid experience in working with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
