job summary:

Leading multinational medical device company looking to hire a Head of Finance to lead their US team. This role would be based in their Pleasanton office. They just raised significant growth financing which will be used to drive the research and development of new products and the commercialization of existing products. They are also in final stages of R&D and expect FDA approval early next year with production soon to follow.

Ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in finance leadership roles within medical device or healthcare industry, ability to work closely and build strong relationship with key stakeholders, be a change agent, be a hands-on leader and mentor/develop the finance team,

Direct and oversee all activities of the Finance team in areas including but not limited to accounting, tax and treasury

- Lead the accounting function (implementing group policies and financial systems, preparation of internal and external financial statements).

- Lead control, planning and analyses functions (budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, financial analysis, financial compliance and development of medium to long term business plan).

-Develop financial plans/budgets and forecasts, and track performance against the plan in a timely manner

- Analyse cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders.

- Present Monthly Financials and Business Reviews from a Financial aspect to Group CFO and Business CEO and, where applicable, deliver presentations to the Executive Committee and/or Board

-Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and be responsible for compliance with applicable financial reporting standards/regulation/laws for financial and tax reporting

-Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organisation to improve business processes and workflows to increase efficiency and improve corporate governance

-Establish and maintain strong relationships with peers and other senior executives, supporting business initiatives where appropriate

-Provide recommendations on enhancing financial performance to senior management

- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff. Provides oversight to finance personnel, processes and supporting information systems.

- Coordinate between the finance teams based in the US to deliver on US finance objectives

- Ensure transactional records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

-Liaise with external advisors as required, including bankers, lawyers, tax agents and auditors


· 15+ years of experience in senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in a similar industry.

· Experience operating at a senior level in a matrixed global organization

· Master's degree in finance or accounting and/or CPA license.

· Change agent within a comparable Finance organization.

· Well-rounded financial management background with a growth organization.

· Very strong people leadership, including mentoring and coaching talent.

· Experience in healthcare medical device industry is an advantage.

· Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including GAAP and IFRS.

· Knowledge of SAP based financial and accounting reporting systems.

· Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.

· Expert knowledge of gross to net accounting.

· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Experience in strategic planning and execution.

· Strong ability to translate financial data to support strategic decisions in coordination with business functions

· Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management.

· Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

· Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
