job summary:

Urgent Interim Controller role with a well established healthcare organization on Norwalk, OH. Onsite role with a flexibility for hybrid after certain period of time. This is a temp to hire position.

The Controller is responsible for supporting the organizations financial objectives by collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial information for monthly profit and loss statements, annual budget and audit. Provides leadership to accounting team members, supervises accounting team, advises department directors/managers and promotes the STAR Core Values.

responsibilities:
  • Promotes team work within the departments, and between departments to achieve smooth operations and quality services
  • Responsible for organization of the accounting department to insure proper accounting for all pertinent records
  • Hires, educates and coaches accounting staff to meet and exceed department operating standards
  • Serves as a resource person for other department heads, supervisors, peers and employees Provides training and support
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings to promote open communication and employee engagement
  • Coordinates year-end activities including audits, audit schedules, cost reports, and tax and informational returns
  • Manage cash flow within the organization, balancing the need to meet obligations in a timely manner and maximize the short-term return on available cash plus work with the Senior Director, Finance to plan and project cash flow needs three-years into the future
  • Plan, organize, and control financial reporting for internal decision-making ensuring that reports are provided to management on a timely and accurate basis and information provided in relevant to the decision-making process.
  • Plan, organize and control financial reporting as required for external purposes including the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, the 990 returns, sales tax reporting, 1099 reporting, and others as required by external entities ensuring that reports meet all applicable regulatory requirements and filed on a timely basis.
  • Support the Director, Finance Planning & Analysis and the Decision Support team on the annual budget process. Manage the budget process for accounting and administrative items such as investments, depreciation and other items.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • 5 years' experience in financial management including accounting, budgeting, and financial statement preparation.
  • 3 years of experience in supervision
  • Healthcare experience in a Finance related setting preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels in the organization in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a high performing, high functioning, dynamic team
