job summary:

Our wine production client in Lenexa, KS is looking for an Interim Senior Accountant to work in their local office. This role is based in Kansas, working from the Kansas office in Overland Park and flexibly from home. This is a full-time position that will likely last a few months with potential extension. In this role, you will work with the Kansas-based finance team and play a key role in supporting business operations with strong financial governance, planning, compliance, and business optimization. The ideal candidate should be autonomous, self-motivated, and have a strong accounting background.

    responsibilities:

    Potential responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Supporting period-end close process as needed by managing fixed asset subledger and related journal entries, prepaid asset monitoring, variance analysis and reconciliations.
    • Supporting integration of acquired company by researching and resolving G/L issues, reconciling balance sheet accounts, handling bank reconciliations and managing G/L integration
    • Managing annual 401k audit compliance and documentation
    • Assisting with industry-specific compliance activities, such as license applications, renewals, label registrations, state and local tax filings, audit schedules, etc.
    • Proactively identify areas for streamlining accounting policies and procedures
     
    qualifications:

    Key characteristics:

    • 5+ years of experience with full cycle accounting close and preparation of financial statements
    • Accounting/Finance degree
    • Advanced Excel expertise
    • CPA preferred but not required
    • Self starter, able to work independently
    • Experience in production, manufacturing or agriculture environments a definite plus
    • Experience with MS Dynamics-NAV/Great Plains and/or BNA fixed asset software a definite plus
