job summary:

Our San Diego-based client in the tech industry is looking for a fully remote Lead Fixed Asset Accountant. This individual will be responsible for various monthly accounting activities and analysis. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining fixed asset subledger, preparing and posting journal entries and account reconciliations for fixed assets and capitalized software projects, technical accounting analysis around capitalized software, and executing internal controls in a SOX environment. This is a 3-6 month fully remote contract with high probability for extension or conversion depending on performance. Although the candidate can live anywhere in the Western half of the United States, the client has requested that this individual be working in PST in order to align with the rest of the team.   • Record entries for activity and transactions for assigned accounts (Fixed Assets, CIP accounts, Capitalized Software, and the Company's kiosks manufacturing tracking)
  • Support technical GAAP analysis of company activities (software capitalization) and transactions and new accounting pronouncements, through technical research and preparation of technical accounting position papers.
  • Work with procurement to manage production activity and reporting including the tracking of credits, prepayments, and installations
  • Managing the company's Oracle fixed asset system including maintenance of the company's fixed asset tax records
  • Provide audit support for the company's annual audit.
  • Reconcile and analyze general ledger and sub-ledger accounts
  • Perform analytical reviews including researching variances between actual and expected results, budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in the implementation, documentation and maintenance of internal controls in a SOX environment
  • Partner with impacted cross-functional teams on ad-hoc projects and/or initiatives
  • BA Business, Accounting or related field required
  • 4+ years of fixed asset accounting experience required
  • Background communicating via video on a daily basis with other departments and clients as needed
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Oracle experience preferred but not required
