Position: Import Operations Associate
An established transportation/logistics provider has an opportunity an Import Operations Associate. This role will oversee all facets of Ocean Import Operations for a global base of clients importing to the U.S. Great opportunity for a candidate with international freight forwarding management skills to join a dynamic team focus on providing service to clients in multiple geographies.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing import shipments
- Forward Arrival Notices and communicate ETA with customers.
- Distribute documentation, track movement of shipment from origin to destination. which may involve arranging release and delivery at destination according to customer requirements. Issue delivery order to carrier, monitor timely delivery and obtain POD.
- Set up Drayage and coordinate all shipments with transportation providers
- Issue delivery order to carrier, monitor timely deliver.
- Maintain files. Enter file data. Update online system with applicable data elements. Bill for each file. Issue forms and documents. Compete filing as per departmental guidelines.
- Communicate with overseas offices, agents, customers and domestic vendors.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and operational strategies
- Verify and accept vendor invoices
- Verify profit levels for each order
- Collaborate with sales team to deliver quotes for new and existing clients and offer client-specific solutions
Requirements include:
- All-around knowledge of Ocean Import regulations
- Excellent communications and customer service skills
- Strong basic business relations skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Global Forwarding Industry
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent technology skills including Microsoft Applications (Strong Excel skills preferred)
- Experience with Cargowise preferred
- Work effectively in a team environment. Must be a team player.
