job summary:

Our hospitality client in the Las Vegas area is looking for a hybrid or in-office interim Director of Payroll to join their team. This opportunity is set to last for a minimum of one year with a high probability of conversion. The Director of Payroll will be responsible for developing, installing, and maintaining budgeting systems that provide control of expenditures made to carry out activities, such as labor and payroll costs. They will plan, direct, and coordinate ledger maintenance, report preparation, and operating statistics. Please see below for the job description.

  • Develop, modify, and review accounting systems, reporting methods, and controls.
  • Participate with management in matters regarding preservation of capital and assets.
  • Evaluate the schedule or timelines related to the completion of assignments, while maintaining service and/or product quality.
  • Develop staff skills to enhance department effectiveness and manage resources to eliminate excess cost or unnecessary expenditures.
  • Direct, manage and oversee the overall operations of the Payroll department (working directly with all other management within the property).
  • Review and balance payroll registers, tax liabilities and incoming work on a daily basis.
  • Review, balance, and report month-end close to General Ledger, as well as balance quarter-end payroll.
  • Prepare quarterly tax returns for multi employers & multi states.
  • Manage year-end processing, including but not limited to, year-end payroll tax returns, W2's and year-end audits from both internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.


  • 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7 years of management experience in a payroll department within a large company/corporation.
  • 7 years of experience directing and managing a payroll function or a large hotel or company with hourly salaried and/or union employees, preferably in a 5 star/5 diamond environment.
  • Working knowledge of multi-employer, multi-state payroll processing, general ledger posting, employment/payroll laws and regulations and payroll tax returns.
  • Highly proficient in Cronos & ADP.
