job summary:

Large, well established Distribution Company in Central Westchester County seeks to add a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to its team.

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for making sure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner. This position will also be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of benefit invoices. Such invoices include, Life, Medical, Dental, Vision, etc. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for full-cycle payroll and will be assigned to handle a group of employees. The job functions include processing of payroll, maintenance of time and attendance, periodic reporting, Union Reporting, and benefits administration. Candidates must know how to be an employee advocate and must understand that our employees are our customers!

responsibilities:
  • Process multi tax jurisdiction payrolls for roughly 500 employees on a Weekly, Biweekly and Monthly pay frequency. Pay cycles include Hourly, Salaried and Monthly Commissioned employees.
  • Ability to respond and resolve payroll and benefit questions and discrepancies in a professional, accurate and timely manner while delivering quality customer service.
  • New Hire set up into ADP WFN system which includes employee benefit enrollments.
  • Union reporting which includes pension, annuity, welfare benefits and union dues.
  • Verify funds for stop payments are properly credited to accounts.
  • Assist with year-end close including processing open enrollment documentation.
  • Reconcile all benefits against ADP WFN benefit enrollment reporting.
  • Process Qualifying Life Event requests and maintain accurate records for Cobra administration.
  • Termination of dependents who attain age 26 from all related benefits.
  • Perform special projects as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for benefit audits.
  • Ability to be a team player in our six-person payroll group.

  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now version 20 or higher and ADP reporting.
  • Strong Working Knowledge of Excel.
  • 6+ years of Payroll experience is required
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, busy environment
  • Knowledge of Payroll best practice, applicable payroll tax and benefit related laws and regulations.
