job summary:

Tatum by Randstad is working with a Downtown Kansas City Real Estate company currently looking for a junior level Property Accountant. If you've ever wanted to get in the exciting field of real estate, now is your opportunity! The role is responsible for effectively computing, classifying and recording numerical data to keep financial records complete which involves direct communication with the leasing, marketing, resident relations, and maintenance team for the community. The entrant will perform any combination of routine calculating and recording of transactions to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining property accounting records. Conducts all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and all other laws pertaining to apartments. This position reports to the Senior Property Accountant.

responsibilities:

Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

Prepare corporate credit card reconciliations.

Process all tenant account adjustments in property management system originated by property management team.

Maintain the general ledger for each property assigned which includes, but no limited to journal entries, reconciliations,

Prepare monthly financial statement packages.

Create and/or update weekly/monthly reports requested by management for financial analysis purposes for residential rental activities.

Audit resident lease files for financial accuracy.

Assist in preparation of the annual budget.

Assist with providing documentation for auditors during annual financial statement audits or any cost certifications required.

Perform any additional duties assigned by Senior Accountant or Director of Accounting.

Strong attention to detail, follow-up and excellent organizational skills.

Experience in property management software a plus.

Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Word, Excel) skills.

Ability to treat sensitive/confidential information with appropriate discretion.

Strong sense of urgency, adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness.

The ability to function professionally under pressure, while managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.

Good working knowledge of office equipment and procedures including computers, photocopiers, printers, fax machines, mailing equipment, telephone systems, filing systems, etc.

Must possess personal tact, discretion and good judgment. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

The position is only available to local Kansas City, MO (and KS) area candidates and is not eligible for relocation. The position is also NOT remote or hybrid. The role will be in their downtown office full time.
