job summary:

Purchasing Manager - $125,000 to $140,000 plus bonus

Develop and execute the core goals of the Purchasing Department of a complex $500+ million privately held company. Ensure speed to market and category innovation. Partner with key vendors and customers to ensure the highest level of confidence and efficiency. Develop people and processes within the Purchasing Department to develop a "world class" department / operation. Manage a great team of employees in the purchasing and category management departments.

responsibilities:
  • Manage all purchasing functions - including importing - for all business units within a $500 million national market leading business
  • Work with vendors on new produce design and development.
  • Support Category Managers in reviewing and evaluating new and existing products
  • Establish processes for developing and validating new products
  • Program Management, promotional planning, and analysis to improve vendor participation and profitability
  • Collaborate across all departments - beyond Purchasing and Category Management - to include Sales, Marketing and Operations
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of purchasing management experience.
  • Strong preference for candidates coming out of a large retail, large distribution or large manufacturing company.
  • Strong preference for a candidate with "hands on" experience in supply chain management, sales, logistics, marketing and customer relations.
