job summary:

Our client is currently looking for a Segment Controller for their Directional Drilling segment.

This person will be responsible for leading the accounting, financial planning & analysis, treasury and back office related functions; overseeing the preparation of financial statements, forecasts and reports; developing internal controls; supporting management in the preparation of the annual budget and analysis of business results; and supporting the annual audit of company's consolidated financial statements.

responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable, payable and reporting functions.
  • Direct oversight over accounting team to ensure compliance with GAAP, policies and procedures, and all applicable laws
  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and review financial results, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entries for compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee manufacturing and service cost accounting that relates to the segment's drilling motor and measurement while drilling (MWD) activity, all inventory activity, establishing of standard costs, and proper record keeping of both manufactured and purchased parts.
  • Initiate budget and forecasting activities for review with Executive Leadership Team.
  • Interact with key operational managers to obtain a thorough understanding of the company's core business and to provide accurate and useful information to various management levels
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of company cash flow projection model and analyze near and long-term cash flow needs.
  • Ensure management reporting is aligned to overall strategy and that quality information is available to help management make key decisions.
  • Support annual audit for the business unit.
  • Conduct all business activities in accordance with company policies and procedures, Core Values and all applicable legal requirements.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA preferred).
  • 8+ years in Controller, Assistant Controller, Manager or FP&A role.
  • Extensive experience working within the oil & gas industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and 5+ years working within accounting system (QuickBooks preferred).
  • Extensive experience working within an ERP system.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
