responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant I position is a key member of the accounting team and assists the Assistant Manager, Manager, and CAO with various job duties. The primary responsibilities of this position will include purchase and participated loan accounting, reviewing and filing the annual property tax return, preparing the quarterly call report, along with forecasting and reporting duties. Further, the Senior Accountant will play an integral role in reviewing the work of the Accountant I, II, and III positions. They will collaborate with various business units on various job duties and will develop a solid understanding of business needs, strategy and products.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintains support for those entries. This individual should be able to complete these journal entries with little to no direction.
- Creates and maintains job procedures for all primary job duties.
- Responsible for loan participation accounting and analysis.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts to third party supporting documentation.
- Investigates and explains forecast to actual variances for selected accounts.
- Responsible for compiling, reviewing and filing the quarterly call report.
- Prepares, reviews and files the annual property tax return.
- Assist in the quarterly forecast process.
- Assist in the quarterly ALCO process.
- Assists in monthly financial reporting package.
- Assists in updating accounting department policies.
- Reviews account reconciliations.
- Assists management in special projects.
- Assists accountants in answering questions.

qualifications:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or other related field.
-CPA certification and license.
-3+ years' of experience in financial reporting, accounting or finance.
-Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
-Skills to operate in a self-managed environment.
-Must possess strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills.
-Strong written and verbal communication.
-Must be excellent in use of business software applications, particularly Excel.
-Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
-Applies knowledge of credit union systems, policies, and procedures.
-Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree in business, finance, accounting or other related field.
-Public accounting experience.
-Experience in credit union or financial services industry.
-Knowledge of Symitar software, Client's products and policies.
