The Senior Accountant executes general ledger journal entries, performs account reconciliations, ensures accurate reporting and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze results and make financial decisions aligned with company objectives. The Senior Accountant monitors policies and procedures and identifies and suggests improvements for accounting, reporting and recording procedures. The Senior Accountant assists to ensure compliance with federal, state and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and maintaining compliance.

responsibilities:
  • Performs complex general ledger account reconciliations, verifies accuracy of data and reports and identifies and corrects errors made by both internal and external personnel. Cash accounts are reconciled using the ERP system.
  • Support timely monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.
  • Prepare monthly Payment analytic and other ad hoc reporting related to credit card processing.
  • Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends. Prepare schedules used to determine the Company's insurance needs.
  • Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities and assets.
  • Supervise and mentor the staff accountants.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  • Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (or active pursuit) preferred
  • 3 - 7 years of experience in accounting; audit experience preferred
  • Familiarity of generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S (US GAAP)
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Previous experience with Oracle preferred.
