Senior Accountant

Currently working with a high growth Series C Food Technology company that has grown 2x year over year and the Controller is looking to build out the accounting function and this would be a Senior Accountant that will support technical accounting, operational accounting, and even some FP&A duties (FP&A sits in Controllers group). Position would have strong growth potential and opportunity to specialize in a few areas after they figure out what they like and the company grows. Senior Accountant

About this job

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts payable cycles as well as being a key member in the close process. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager to build out the internal Accounting function and to implement best-in-class systems and processes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment that changes quickly.

Duties include

  • Manage weekly Accounts Payable cycles
  • Owning the vendor onboarding and maintenance process
  • Serve as liaison between Operations and Accounting
  • Review purchase orders and invoices for complex account classifications, approvals, and supporting documentation and resolve any issues in documentation and contractual requirements with the appropriate department
  • Prepare journal entries including inventory adjustments, reserves, cost of goods sold
  • Record inventory transactions, including inventory adjustments for deployment, assembly builds, physical inventory, damages, returns, and in transit
  • Oversee fixed assets capitalization and depreciation
  • Be a vital member of the accounting team responsible for executing the close process, including ownership of specific balance sheet accounts, preparation of journal entries, completion of account reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies
  • Review general ledger coding to ensure expenses are accurately recorded by account and department in the correct accounting period
  • Responsible for preparing financial statements and performing fluctuation analyses of the balance sheet and P&L
  • Support the annual audit, including preparation of audit schedules and financial statements
  • Assist in compliance with statutory reporting filings and fulfill compliance requests
  • Assist with technical accounting research and memos
  • Assist with internal controls, policies, procedures, and scalability improvements including documentation of the control environment
