job summary:

This position will consist of a blend of Finance and Accounting responsibilities with primary responsibility for fixed assets, lease accounting, inventory management, COGS, and other monthly close responsibilities as needed. Candidate will work within a team of four that oversees AP, AR, Inventory, and FP&A functions.

  • Manage and direct the perpetual inventory system and COGS reporting. Prepare monthly accounting journals, reports, variance analysis, and forecasting for upper management.
  • Produce monthly operational reports on inventory transactions and losses, continually auditing the inventory process for improvements in physical counts, data entry, and reporting.
  • Maintain capital asset ledgers for all locations (7). Develop procedures for recording capital transactions with specific focus on Balance Sheet reconciliation and depreciation calculations.
  • Work with VP of Engineering and Finance Manager to analyze financial metrics of capital projects (ROI, NPV) and develop capital cash flow forecasts based on project schedules and PO records.
  • Audit current fixed asset inventory by location, updating ledgers to capture disposals, additions, or relocations as needed.
  • Create and maintain lease accounting schedules for buildings and equipment compliant with FASB ASC-842 standards
  • Complete month-end close activities related to fixed assets, leases, inventory, and other items as needed.
  • Work with Finance Manager and Senior Leadership on Balance Sheet and P&L analysis & forecasting and ad-hoc reporting and analytical projects
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in finance or accounting role with fixed asset and analytical work
  • Strong Excel skills required, experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus
  • Experience in manufacturing or commodities industry a plus
