Tatum by Randstad is working with a small company located just north of Kansas City (Liberty, Kearney, MO area). The company is in growth mode and looking to bring on an experienced accounting professional. Someone who can handle and desires a fast paced environment where everyday is a new challenge. This position will report to the Assistant Controller.

Job description:

Self-directed, collaborative, technically experienced and technologically savvy accounting professional that supports many of the accounting activities of a complex multi-state, multi-entity service company. Responsibilities vary from day-to-day activity and through the annual audit. The assistant controller should be comfortable working in a busy workplace and exercising critical thinking skills.

responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

Daily Operations -

  • A wide variety of hands on work, to include account, subledger, report and intercompany reconciliations, accuracy reviews, exception research, month end accruals and journal entry review.
  • Review daily database transfers for accuracy.
  • Support the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of individual and consolidated business results.
  • Support workflow to ensure consistent coverage, balanced workloads and efficient operations, including minimum errors and rework.

Processes, Procedures & Internal Controls -

  • Support efforts to improve accounting operations, including providing feedback on assigned current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and support implementation and documentation of new processes and internal controls with the primary goals of accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases as needed, including efficient use of all available tools.

Annual Audit -

  • Support the preparation for external auditors, including assigned documentation, workpapers and other schedules.
     
    qualifications:

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Knowledgeable and comfortable in most work and processes related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations.
    • Experience in a multi-entity environment; consolidations preferred but not required.
    • High degree of comfort with both using and learning new technology. Advanced Excel skills required.
    • Self-motivated and self-directed, with above average strategic and critical thinking skills.
    • Comfortable prioritizing competing projects and deadlines, demonstrating and cultivating an appropriate sense of urgency when necessary.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including ability to work closely with a wide variety of personalities.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline required.
    • Five years of related experience. Must include extensive experience in reconciliations. Multi-entity experience preferred.
