job summary:

Medical Corporation is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant who will play an integral role in the accounting team. Under the direction of the Controller, the primary function of this position is responsible for performing various accounting and financial reporting functions including financial statement highlights, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Collects information necessary to prepare monthly journal entries including payroll journal entries and account reconciliations. Monitors general ledger account activity and reconciles general ledger accounts. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

responsibilities:
  • Maintain and adhere to internal controls. Also ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
  • Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
  • Prepare variance analyses for income statements with actual vs. budget and key financial performance metrics for monthly financial report packet
  • Manage intercompany transactions, and reconciliation
  • Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
  • Prepare complex journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, payroll, and revenue & expense accrual
  • Assist accounts payable as needed and A/P related functions
  • Filing of annual business tax renewal and business property tax statement
  • Preparation of monthly financial report packet submitted to corporate.
  • Cash forecasting and cash management
  • Review of bank reconciliation prepared by accounting staff
  • Assist in annual operating budget
  • Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation
  • Assist in other special projects as needed.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting / Finance or equivalent required.
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Proficient in SAGE 100 (MAS 90) accounting software
  • Strong computer skills across all other Microsoft Office products and intermediate Excel skills (formulas, charts, pivot table)
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial analysis principles
  • Must have excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
  • Able to plan and prioritize work, while dealing professionally and effectively with frequent interruption
    • Ability to maintain tact and professionalism in dealing with people
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the team as well as independently.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks within demanding deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
    • Prepare written reports, calculate, and interpret financial data and analyze economic trends and conditions.
