job summary:

A growing company in Fairfield County is seeking a Senior accounting professional to join their Finance Team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the monthly record-to-report process, general ledger accounting and account reconciliations, compiling and issuing financial reporting & analyses, inventory accounting and reporting, intercompany activity and reconciliations.

responsibilities:

Responsibilities: - Manage the monthly record-to-report process for select companies. - General ledger accounting, account reconciliations and analysis. Reconciliations are to be completed in a timely, accurate and fully descriptive manner, including tying out the reconciliation with the related income statement activity. - Record transactions to the general ledger (journal entries, commissions, management fees, accruals, etc.). - Compile and issue financial reporting (monthly management reports; actuals versus prior year and budget/forecast) as well as ad-hoc analyses. - Inventory accounting - costing, aging, valuation, calculation of required obsolescence reserves, inventory in-transit, and accounting for tariffs. - Sales/use tax - maintain Avalara relationship and oversee filings. Address and follow-up on state/local issues. - Daily cash reporting and forecasting; approve of select banking activity. - Accounting for claims; credit card accounting and reconciliation. - Weekly reporting of open orders. - Monitoring freight costs and freight surcharges to customers. Other cost analysis, as needed. - General ledger maintenance (Sage & Dancik). - Manage and assist with external audits and lender reviews, compile borrowing base reports, and coordinate inventory appraisals. - Manage fixed assets, depreciation, intangibles and amortization.

 
qualifications:

Education/Certification(s): - Bachelors or Graduate Degree with a concentration in accounting. - CPA preferred. - Expert level Excel, Word, other Microsoft suite and ERP skills - Strong US GAAP knowledge and practical experience - Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
