job summary:

Our Norwalk based client within the healthcare industry is searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This individual will act as a liaison between the accounting department, the finance department, and accounts payable. They will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and performing a wide variety of functions to support the activities of the department including filing, data entry, conducting research, systems review and support, bank reconciliations, and general accounting support. This is an in-office opportunity with potential earned hybrid flexibility after the initial training period. Please see below for a detailed job description.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Increase efficiency, streamline workflows, document workflows/processes and follow up on any system errors, questions, or logged tickets within Oracle for accounting and finance

- Maintain chart of accounts for the accounting department; establish policies for setting up new accounts and departments

- Support and maintain the balance sheets including the reconciliation of assets and liability accounts, cash account reconciliation including bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations as needed or directed by an audit, government, or regulatory agency

- Assist and support accountants with hospital entries

- Work with accounting and finance team members and leadership group to explain variances or review details in their accounts monthly, including active participation in reviewing monthly financial statements

- Assist in the coordination and preparation for interim and annual audit including providing, creating and reviewing audit work papers and other supporting documentation

- Departmental administrative support duties such as maintaining time and attendance for the accounting department


Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or commensurate experience

- At least 3 years of accounting experience

- Background coordinating between departments in past positions
