job summary:

Tatum Professional Search has an amazing opportunity for an experienced and talented Accounting Analyst. Our client is a leading American manufacturer, marketer and distributor of consumer and commercial products. This position will support their Global Business Services Division and their function is to align, centralize, and focus on process efficiency and improvement. These are key components that drive collaboration and efficiency in service delivery improvement.

responsibilities:

Perform accounting activities for the NA Segments, including but not limited to:

  • Accurate and timely financial reporting in conformance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Company Policy and SOX.
  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet, P&L statement and several ad-hoc reports for multiple Segments' including local, corporate and SOX requirements.
  • Perform month end close procedures to include:
    • Account reconciliation and analysis
    • Recording of standard and complex journal entries
    • Internal control testing and remediation relevant to accounting processes
    • Fixed Asset Accounting
    • Intercompany Accounting
    • Cash Accounting
    • Payroll accruals
    • Commissions
    • Judgmental accruals
    • E&O
    • Ensuring GL integrity, timely and accurate posting to appropriate accounts, chart of account maintenance and proper classification of assets and liabilities
  • Identify and implement ongoing process improvements
  • Special projects as assigned

Future Migrations:

  • Execute assigned transition plan activities for future migrations from Segments or for incremental scope.
 
qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience with ability to succeed in a deadline driven and fast paced general ledger accounting environment to include performing monthly financial closings including account reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare account reconciliations and analysis for a broad cross section of accounts with minimal direction.
  • Experience to include several areas of accounting. Preferably Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Commissions and Revenue Recognition.
  • Experience with SOX highly preferred.
  • Proven characteristics of consistent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self motivated and independent
  • Strong multi-tasking, interpersonal and organizational capabilities
  • Pro-active attitude with regards to identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within the organization and external auditors.
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine and take the correct course of action and/or recommend actionable suggestions for change.

Technical Experience Requirements:

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including vlookup and pivot tables
  • Previous experience with an ERP system (SAP)
  • Experience as a project/process lead (coordinating audits and/or leading process improvement initiatives)
  • Understanding of GAAP

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in accounting
