job summary:

A cutting-edge, global medical device company is looking for an experienced corporate paralegal to join its legal team in either Wayne, PA or Miami, FL. This position supports a nine (9) attorney legal team located in it's Wayne, Pennsylvania office as well as the office in Miami, Florida. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various aspects of the company's legal functions.

The successful candidate will be motivated, with the ability to spot unusual situations and respond appropriately. This is not a "check the box" position; rather, the position requires the candidate to work within broad instructions, adapt as needed, work autonomously but also recognize when to ask the lawyers for additional guidance.

responsibilities:
  • Maintain the legal department database to review and store contracts, retrieve information, and track progress towards key milestones. Follow up within the organization on action items towards those milestones.
  • Handling corporate compliance matters, corporate filings, trademark filings and acquisition integration.
  • Manage the third party web-based legal training modules. Work with the HR department globally to ensure personnel complete the training and remain current.
  • Conduct third party background screening using outside service.
  • Process form nondisclosure agreements.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel, send invoices/track spending.
  • Perform light administrative duties.
  • Other responsibilities will be added for the candidate who demonstrates success.
  • In addition, the candidate will need to build relationships within the organization. The position will require interaction with various departments and personnel around the world.
 
qualifications:
  • Minimum five(5) years of experience as a corporate paralegal.
  • Notary Public credentials helpful.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred (especially if working in the Miami, Florida office)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe
  • The candidate will have access to highly confidential information. An extraordinary level of responsibility, discretion and secrecy is critical.
  • Continued attention to detail in composing, preparing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Excellent communication skills with well-developed English language written and oral communication skills; able to interact and communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be self-reliant with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent time management skills.
