job summary:

Leading technology/manufacturing company is looking for a Senior Cost Accounting Manager. This growing team has a 45,000 sq. ft facilities in the East Bay and this is a newly created role due to high growth. Reports to the VP Finance and you will be responsible for developing inventory and costing processes, provides analysis and insight into all aspects of company's actual and planned gross margin results.

responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the inventory costing method and related labor and overhead allocation for the company's first commercial product, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Design and implement cost management processes and use appropriate costing methodologies to recognize, determine, accumulate, and report costs of business activities such as cost of goods sold, inventory, labor usage, etc.
  • Represent Accounting in the implementation of the inventory and cost module of ERP system.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain organizations to develop processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of inventory data.
  • Own and execute month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation and analyses related to cost of goods sold, as well as inventory valuation, balances, adjustments and reserves.
  • Provide senior management with a clear and concise analysis of monthly actual COGS and inventory results, prepare periodic COGS forecasts/budgets, and develop robust monthly budget vs. actual variance reporting.
  • Partner with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure Bill of Material accuracy including knowledge of cost reduction impact on financials.
  • Plan and manage cycle count and annual physical inventories.
  • Develop processes to evaluate inventory reserves.
  • Coordinate with external and internal auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures with respect to inventory and inventory related accounts.

8+ years of related experience

Experience with supply chain and manufacturing industry required
