Senior Cost Analyst

Currently working with a real estate investment firm that is growing and looking for a Senior Cost Analyst to do analysis, reporting and accounting for a number of entities and understanding the cost allocations, what can be reimbursed from different investment vehicles, as well as analytics and reporting for upper management. Will be a visible role within the company with growth potential over time as they scale. (25% expected YOY growth). Qualified candidates will have 2-5 years of experience in either public accounting, accounting within a company with multiple entities, or financial analysis experience. Senior Cost Analyst

Summary

The Senior Cost Analyst will provide direct assistance to the Senior Director, Capital Markets and Treasury, Managing Director - Information Technology, and Corporate Controller in the following areas: review shared expenditures to determine nature, eligibility of expenditure for reimbursement by our investment vehicles, and appropriate allocation methods, document rationale for allocations, document and maintain company allocation-related policies and procedures, and communicate allocation policies and conclusions with internal and external stakeholders. This role will be based out of our corporate office in San Francisco and currently offers a flexible work schedule, in terms of in-office versus from home requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day process of allocating shared expenditures across our investment vehicles. Maintain existing allocation-related spreadsheets, including updating inputs, reviewing entities, allocation methods, and periods.
  • Work with Accounting and Business Intelligence to streamline the process of allocating expenditures across our investment vehicles, including retaining appropriate documentation to support rationale for allocation.
  • Identify long-term solution to automate the allocation of shared expenditures to improve efficiency, enhance accuracy and documentation related to allocations.
  • Work with Accounting leads, Department Leads, and Compliance to ensure allocation methods, amounts, eligibility, and approvals are made in conformity with the Company's allocation-related policies and venture-related organizational documents. Maintain and regularly update the Company's allocation-related policies.

Knowledge Skill Requirements

  • Four-year undergraduate degree required.
  • At minimum of three year of accounting or finance experience; Cost Accounting Experience a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience with day-to-day operations of processing accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
  • Accounting education/knowledge required.
  • A strong working knowledge in accounting, processes, and controls.
  • Understanding of complex legal structures and interrelation between legal entities and ownership structures.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy of work product
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with team members.
  • Self-managed, able to work well independently and within a small team.
  • High level of initiative, strong work ethic and willingness to work across teams.
