job summary:

Senior Tax Accountant

Our client in Montgomery County is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant with a minimum of 3 years tax season preparation experience to join their team. They are looking for an articulate individual who can work well within a small team as well as their client base. Their tax practice works very closely with an independent financial services firm. They enjoy proactive tax planning and frequently overlap with clients of financial advisors.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA license preferred, 150 credit hours to obtain CPA license is required
  • A strong accounting background is required. The ability to read and understand financial statements in order to determine what procedures/adjustments need to be completed to conform to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Excellent knowledge of Federal and State tax laws and regulations and the ability to perform tax research
  • Experience with Drake Tax Software is a plus but proficiency in the use of tax software in general is a requirement
  • Knowledge of business tax returns (1120, 1120S and 1065) is a strong bonus
  • knowledge of fiduciary income tax returns (1041) is a strong bonus

responsibilities:
  • Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary or other tax returns, along with 1099s/W2s/PPTs with a heavy emphasis on busy season (Late January to April 15 th ) and other important deadlines throughout the year
  • Assist with tax research and planning
  • Assist with the development of communications to clients and government entities regarding tax compliance
  • Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare accurate work papers for tax engagements
  • Participate in business development activities to include attending networking events and speaking engagements
  • Learns and upholds the firm's expectation for work quality and professional development as well as the firm's cultural and core values
  • Assist team members with other duties as needed

  • Must be a team player and be willing to work over-time (including weekends) when necessary to meet client needs and deadlines
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with senior management and client administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a requirement
