job summary:

Position Overview

This position is responsible for the accounting of cash accounts and bank statements, down payments and progress payments, company credit card transactions and GR.IR (unvouchered). The Senior General Ledger Accountant will support the administrative office in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the mining and facilities in California. While the position will be based in Las Vegas, Nevada, there will be occasional travel to the California site.

responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Complete the monthly bank account reconciliations including review and follow up on open items.
  • Work with IT to help incorporate the EBS (electronic bank statement) process to create efficiencies in this process
  • Prepare monthly accruals related to goods and services
  • Assist in month-end closing and prepare journal entries as necessary
  • Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
  • Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile unvouchered (GR.IR) account
  • Reconcile supplier down payments and ensure payments are cleared timely
  • Create uploads of credit card transactions that need to be processed in SAP
  • Monitor and reconcile the credit card accounts ensuring receipts and GL coding are accurate
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly roll forwards related to balance sheet accounts
  • Monthly accruals related to property taxes
  • Participate in monthly cost center reviews with accounting group
  • Assist with audit requests and testing in a timely manner
  • Assistance in all general accounting functions and special projects as necessary
  • Work to streamline accounting practices and the related procedures
  • Work alongside IT team to develop accurate reporting that can be used in daily, monthly, and quarterly tasks to increase efficiency and accuracy
 
qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • General Ledger accounting experience with significant exposure in researching correct application of GAAP
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience interfacing with internal and external management teams
  • Ability to work with external auditors maintaining compliance & controls
  • Proficiency with PC software with emphasis on analytical and problem-solving tools
  • Experience with stock compensation accounting preferred
  • Experience with SAP ERP system or another ERP such as Oracle, JDE, etc. is preferred

Required Education/Certification/Licensure:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 7 years in general accounting, with 2+ years of experience in manufacturing accounting desired
